Mind

Body

Spirit

As whole persons, we carry a natural connection between all parts of ourselves, including the physical, spiritual, and mental. Riverplace emphasizes providing support to the individuals we work with on all levels, whether regarding mental and physical wellness, the food and movement each body takes in, or the core spiritual (12 Step) foundations each desires to pursue. We believe in the correlation between the strengthening of these areas and that they are each tied to people living full, high-quality lives. Our commitment is to help our clients pursue this.

Person-Centered

Here at Riverplace, you and your needs are significant. You’re not viewed as a number but as someone with your own needs, experiences, and background. We acknowledge this and support you from where you are upon entering the space. We get to know you, pursue your healing alongside you, and tend to your needs as you work toward your future.

Riverplace supplies its clients with a process of care in which recovery is approached in phases.

Riverplace is an intensive outpatient treatment center that supplies clients with housing as they pursue their recovery through our programming and other services. The duration of time spent with us is determined by each individual and their care team based on personal needs. We provide various program types, from intensive outpatient with or without lodging to extended care and aftercare. Each program type comprises weekly programming with one’s primary counselor and various groups, which are all essential to achieving fulfilling, lasting recovery.

Aftercare

Aftercare is an essential element of Riverplace’s treatment programs and organizational philosophy. Recovery is an ongoing process that does not conclude when treatment with us concludes. This form of care is important, as it supports clients in the successful transition back into their day-to-day lives.
When in groups, individuals are offered space to share their experiences, including potential triggers for relapse or other symptoms, and process through relevant, helpful solutions for continuing success in their recovery. Groups take place on Tuesdays from 9:00 am-11:10 am and Thursdays from 6:30 pm-8:40 pm.

Jail Programs

Change By Design is the name of a partnership and collaboration between Anoka County Community Corrections and Riverplace Counseling Center. The program is located at the Anoka County Workhouse, and it was created for correctional clients with histories of substance use disorders.

Getting to the Roots

Giving our attention to difficulties and challenges is natural and easy. Still, at Riverplace, we believe that ignoring the root causes of these experiences can be harmful and stunt the true transformation each individual can facilitate in their life. These roots often need to be dug up, and we created our programming to facilitate this process alongside each client.

Group Therapy

Each group therapy session is facilitated by a licensed counselor and provides clients with a safe space to explore different topics, symptoms, ideas, and stressors communally. Recovery takes a lot of work and can feel isolating at times, and group therapy provides a community that lets each client know they have a team of people around them who understand what they are going through and is right next to them through the process.

Individual Therapy

Often, substance use disorders result from a person experiencing trauma to any degree and are used as a coping mechanism to stay afloat in the aftermath of that trauma.
Through confidential, individual therapy sessions with licensed counselors, clients can work on gaining an understanding of why they do what they do and building up confidence, skills, and resilience to pursue a more healthful, beneficial path to healing.

Peer Recovery Support

In partnership with various other peer recovery organizations, Riverplace walks with our clients throughout their recovery journey. As a result, these peers receive ample training and certification so that through mutual respect, understanding, and empowerment, they can support clients in becoming and staying engaged in the process of recovery, helping reduce the likelihood of a client experiencing a relapse.

Family Programs

Family involvement is crucial in an individual recovering successfully and long term. Here at Riverplace, we facilitate spaces where this can happen during programming. Education can be very helpful for family members to support and uplift their loved ones as they pursue recovery. This education is provided in a well-structured, professionally-facilitated setting that supports constructive dialogue in a safe and comfortable setting.
Shauna Fenske, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Relational Health & Life Coach, leads the family programs at Riverplace.

Psychoeducation

As an evidence-based therapeutic intervention, psychoeducation includes providing knowledge, support, and information to clients for them to better understand and cope with their illnesses. We provide psychoeducation through well-structured individual and group sessions, booklets, handouts, and other educational materials.

Nutrition and fitness programs

We believe in the connection between the body, spirit, and mind; for this connection to remain healthy, we need to give special attention to each of these areas. Here at Riverplace, we provide this integration through various sessions and classes, including guided physical training, fitness, and health & nutrition courses. It is central to our philosophy to treat all parts of the person, as we believe that pursuing health in one area promotes the growth of health in all other areas.
Keri Anderson, Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach, leads the nutrition and fitness programs at Riverplace.

At Riverplace, you get to.

Treatment can often feel like an obligation to many people, but here at Riverplace, we believe in the perspective that our clients get to do the work, and they take on this perspective during their time with us. We do this by being person-centered, providing community, and allowing and supporting both freedom and structure.

The result?

Every day, clients. just like you from the Lakeville, Minnesota area, are growing, healing, and transforming their lives.

What is one of the many virtues that set Riverplace apart from other treatment programs and facilities? Community.

When people first become clients at Riverplace, they feel like they’re part of the Riverplace family. They build relationships, form friendships, and create connections. We support community-building in a society that often feels very isolating and individualistic, and much of this can be attributed to our housing programs.

We welcome people from the area of Lakeville, MN and all over into our community!

MEN’S HOUSING

Our philosophy supports the idea that living conditions are equally as important as programming when it comes to recovery, which is why we provide our clients with top-of-the-line housing at each of our locations. We have designed each living space with attention to detail, community, and comfort at the forefront. These homes, combined with our recovery programs, truly set Riverplace apart from other recovery programs, placing us in the recovery sector’s lead.

We have 3 properties, each customized to fit the necessary level of care:

The first phase in our continuum of care is our facility in Anoka, and it is an intensive outpatient program that includes housing.
